Patna: People still sip more Darjeeling tea from Assam and Darjeeling, but the Agriculture Department has claimed that soon tea will be cultivated in Bihar like Assam and Darjeeling and Bihar will be the first country in terms of tea. I will hoist the flag. Giving information, Agriculture Minister Sarvjeet said that today we held a review meeting on tea cultivation. In this discussion has been held on promoting tea production in Bihar under the fourth agricultural road map. Tea is being cultivated in some places in Kishanganj, Araria, Purnia, Supaul and Katihar. Now we are trying to promote tea cultivation there.
Bihar government will do branding of tea
Agriculture Minister Sarvjit said that soon we will go to those districts with our officials and talk to the farmers about what should be done for a good crop, so that maximum tea production can be done in Bihar. The facilities that have to be provided to the farmers. We will get all that done. He said that the agriculture department will do the branding of tea of Bihar itself. The Agriculture Department will have all the responsibility of taking tea leaves from the farmers till making them and bringing them to the market. Till now we relish the tea of Assam and Darjeeling, but the day is not far when very soon the whole country will smell the tea of Bihar and people will drink tea named after Bihar.
There has been good production of sesame in Gaya – Agriculture Minister
The Agriculture Minister said that we are preparing for the fourth agricultural road map. We have started sesame cultivation from Gaya. The most surprising thing is that Gaya’s tilkut is famous all over the country, but the farmers of Gaya did not cultivate sesame even in a single katha. From this time we encouraged the farmers and our agricultural scientists went and told the farmers about the cultivation of sesame, due to which the farmers got good yield by cultivating sesame. They are getting a profit of 10 to 12 thousand per quintal and we hope that sesame cultivation will start on a large scale in Gaya district and sesame will be exported outside Bihar.
‘We are trying to promote organic farming’
Agriculture Minister Sarvjit said that we are also encouraging farmers for coarse grains. Along with this, we are making every possible effort to promote organic farming. Whatever facilities or equipment the farmers need, we are working to provide them immediately.
