Amritpal Singh Arrested: Khalistan supporter and heir Punjab De Chief Amritpal Singh has been arrested by the police. It is said that Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale’s nephew Jasbir Singh Rode had informed the police about Amritpal’s whereabouts even before he surrendered. If sources are to be believed, Jasbir Singh Rode was already informed about the surrender of Amritpal Singh and helped in getting him arrested.
Jasbir Singh had told that Amritpal would surrender in front of his supporters in Rode village. This is the place where the ceremony of tying Amritpal’s turban took place. It was Jasbir who informed the Punjab Police about his presence in the Moga Gurdwara. After which the police arrested him from the spot. However, the police believed that arresting Amritpal in the crowd could lead to an Ajnala-like incident.
Intimation of surrender given by calling himself
Jasbir Singh, former chief of Akal Takht, told that on April 22, Amritpal had reached the Gurdwara and he himself called the police and informed about his surrender. Amritpal changed his clothes and reached the Saint Khalsa Gurdwara of the village. Before his arrest, Amritpal said, ‘I may be guilty in the court of the world, but not in the court of God.’ After coming into police custody, he has been sent to the same Dibrugarh Jail in Assam where his other 8 companions are already imprisoned.
forced by wife
Ever since the time the police was looking for Amritpal, his entire family was being monitored. As a result, when Amritpal’s wife Kirandeep was going to London on April 20, she was stopped. Kirandeep was interrogated for about three hours after which Amritpal was forced to surrender.
