8th Pay Commission: One of the biggest questions for more than one crore central government employees and pensioners of the country at this time is when is the 8th Pay Commission going to be constituted. Responding to this on Tuesday i.e. 3 December 2024, the Finance Ministry has said that there is no plan to constitute the 8th Pay Commission in the near future. Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Choudhary, in response to a question in the Rajya Sabha, said that at present no proposal for the establishment of the 8th Central Pay Commission is under consideration before the government. Rajya Sabha MPs Javed Ali Khan and Ramji Lal Suman asked whether the central government was thinking of making an announcement about the new pay commission in the Union Budget 2025-26 to be presented on February 1, 2025?
In fact, the 7th Pay Commission had reformed the salary structure, allowances and pension and had also given priority to equality of pay, after which positive changes were seen in all the central government employees and pensioners. After this, demands are coming forward regarding the 8th Pay Commission and employees and pensioners have been waiting for its formation for a long time.
8th Pay Commission Update: When is the 8th Pay Commission scheduled?
Generally, Central Pay Commissions are constituted every 10 years to assess the salary, allowances and facilities of central government employees and suggest changes in them. These guidelines are issued keeping in mind the inflation rate and other external factors. On February 28, 2014, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh constituted the Seventh Pay Commission and it presented its results on November 19, 2015. The recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission came in January 2016 and in terms of 10 years, the 8th Pay Commission should be implemented on January 1, 2026.
