Cabinet Briefing: In the cabinet briefing, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said on Friday (December 06, 2024) that 85 new Kendriya Vidyalayas will be opened. As on date, there are 1256 functional Kendriya Vidyalayas, including 03 foreign ones i.e. Moscow, Kathmandu and Tehran and a total of 13.56 lakh (approximately) students are studying in these Kendriya Vidyalayas.
The Union Minister said that to implement the new education policy, PM Shri Yojana has been implemented in Kendriya Vidyalayas which will also be applicable in new schools. The Cabinet approved setting up of 28 new Navodaya Vidyalayas in the deprived districts of the country under the Navodaya Vidyalaya Scheme.
Phase-4 of Metro got approval
Apart from this, he told that Phase 4 of Delhi Metro has been approved. Decisions have been taken for projects worth Rs 9.5 lakh crore. In ten years, 745 km of Delhi Metro has been built, which is three times more than before. Ashwini Vaishnav said that the Cabinet approved the Rithala-Kundli corridor of Delhi Metro Phase-IV project, which has a length of 26.463 km, which will further improve the connectivity between the national capital and neighboring Haryana.
This line will be an extension of the currently operating Shaheed Sthal (New Bus Stand) – Rithala (Red Line) corridor and will increase connectivity in the north-western areas of the national capital like Narela, Bawana, parts of Rohini etc. There will be 21 stations on this entire route. All the stations of this corridor will be elevated.
How much money was approved for opening Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya?
The Union Information and Broadcasting Minister said that a total amount of Rs 2359.82 crore is required for the establishment of 28 Navodaya Vidyalayas in the period of five years from 2024-25 to 2028-29. This includes a capital expenditure component of Rs 1944.19 crore and an operating expenditure of Rs 415.63 crore.
