78 accused arrested in crypto currency scam, assets worth Rs 37 crore seized so far


Himachal Pradesh News: Himachal Pradesh government has taken major action in the cases registered under cryptocurrency and NDPS. Information in this regard has been received from the Home Department in Himachal Pradesh Assembly. Shahpur MLA Kewal Singh Pathania had raised a question in this regard.

This information has been received in the reply given by Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu in his capacity as Home Minister. According to the information received in the answer to Pathania’s question no. 2289, in the last two years till November 30, 2024, 12 cases of crypto currency scam and 3 thousand 779 cases have been registered under NDPS in Himachal Pradesh. In these cases, 78 accused have been arrested in cryptocurrency scam and 5 thousand 717 accused under NDPS.

According to the information received in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly, out of the 78 accused arrested in the crypto currency scam, 74 are Himachalis and four are non-Himachalis. Challans have been prepared against 73 of the arrested accused and sent to the court, which are currently under consideration.

At the same time, out of 5 thousand 717 accused arrested under NDPS, 4 thousand 417 are Himachalis and 1 thousand 300 are non-Himachalis. Out of the 3 thousand 779 cases registered, 443 cases are under investigation, while in 3 thousand 336 cases challans have been prepared against the accused and sent to the courts.

Out of total 3 thousand 336 cases sent by the police to the courts, 166 cases have been disposed of. Another 3 thousand 170 cases are still pending in the court. Along with this, detention orders have been passed against four accused under the PIT-NDPS Act.

Total assets worth Rs 37 crore seized in crypto currency scam
Out of the total 12 cases registered in crypto currency scam in the last two years, one case, case number 120/2023, property worth Rs 37 crore has been seized in Palampur police station. This includes immovable property worth Rs 35 crore 29 lakh 93 thousand and movable property worth Rs 1 crore 70 lakh 7 thousand.

At the same time, in the cases registered under NDPS, movable and immovable property worth Rs 13 crore 79 lakh 81 thousand 990 has been seized in the last two years. Apart from this, 241.2 grams of gold and 1207 grams of silver have also been seized.
