This match was played at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot, in which Haryana, playing first, scored a huge score of 389 runs in the stipulated 50 overs. In reply, Bengal team won the match by 5 wickets with 5 balls remaining.
This is the highest score successfully chased in women’s ODI cricket. Earlier this record was in the name of Northern District, which had created history by achieving the target of 309 runs against Canterbury in New Zealand Domestic Cricket in the year 2019. In this match, two players scored centuries and five players scored fifties.
Miracle of Bengal
In this match, Bengal won the toss and chose bowling. For Haryana, captain Shefali Verma played an inning of 197 runs in 115 balls, during which she hit 22 fours and 11 sixes. Apart from them, Reema Sisodia and Sonia Mendhia scored half-centuries for Haryana. In reply, for Bengal, both the opening batsmen Dhara Gujjar and Sasthi Mondal scored fifties, scoring 69 runs and 52 runs respectively. Meanwhile, Tanushree Sarkar scored a century for Bengal, resulting in an innings of 113 runs. Priyanka Bala remained at the crease till the end and ensured her team’s victory by 5 wickets.
Talking about international women’s cricket, the record of chasing the highest score in an ODI match is in the name of Sri Lanka, which had achieved the target of 305 runs given by South Africa this year. Apart from that, no team has been able to chase a score of more than 300 in women’s international cricket.
