2 trains derailed in Balasore, Odisha, 50 people died in the accident, how and when did the accident happen?

Odisha Train Accident: A major train accident took place on Friday (June 2) evening in Balasore, Odisha. The coaches of the Coromandel Express derailed. The incident took place at Bahanga Bazar station at around 7.20 pm when the Coromandel Express was going to Chennai Central from Shalimar station near Kolkata. The rescue team is engaged in the rescue work. On the other hand, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that she is in touch with the Odisha government.

1. Indian Railways spokesperson Amitabh Sharma said that 10 to 12 coaches of the Coromandel Express have derailed. For this reason she went on another track. After some time another train coming from Yesvantpur collided with this Coromandel side and its 3 to 4 coaches also got derailed.

2. More than 50 people have died in this train accident. At the same time, more than 350 people have been injured. Odisha’s Chief Secretary Pardeep Jena told that 132 injured passengers have been shifted to Soro and Gopalpur CHC. Seriously injured passengers will be referred for proper care and treatment. He further said that due to the high number of injured, buses have also been brought along with ambulances.

3. Odisha’s Chief Secretary Pardeep Jena told that NDRF and SDRF teams are present at the spot. About 600 to 700 rescue workers are working. This rescue operation will go on all night. All arrangements have been made in Balasore Medical College and District Hospital.

4. Chief Secretary Pardeep Jena said that we have received information about how many people have lost their lives, but we cannot tell now. The dead are being identified. Will be told after completing the whole process. He said that our priority is to save the trapped people.

5. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that she is in touch with Odisha government and South Eastern Railway. He told that our emergency control room has been activated immediately. Banerjee said that we are sending a team of 5-6 members to the spot to cooperate with the Odisha government and railway officials and help in the rescue operations. I am personally monitoring the situation continuously.

6. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik directed Special Relief Commissioner Satyavrat Sahu and Revenue Minister Pramila Malik to go to the accident site. Officials said that four columns of Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), three columns of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and 60 ambulances are engaged in rescuing the injured. Patnaik Special Relief Commissioner has reached the control room. Patnaik said that he is taking stock of the situation and will go to the spot on Saturday (June 3) morning.

7. Prime Minister Narendra Modi Expressed grief over the accident. He said that in this hour of grief, my condolences are with the bereaved families. Injured get well soon. After talking to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, he has been asked to take stock of the situation. Rescue work is going on at the accident site and all possible help is being given to the affected people. Immediately after this Vaishnav has left for the spot.

9. Many trains have been canceled or diverted due to this train accident, including Satnagachi Chennai Central Express (22807), Digha to Visakhapatnam (22873) and many others.

10. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has announced compensation for the Odisha train accident. He said that Rs 10 lakh would be given to the next of kin of the person who lost his life in the accident. seriously injured people 2 lakh has been announced as compensation. At the same time, he told that 50 thousand rupees will be given to the person with minor injuries.
