Ugandan Man With 12 Wives: A 70 year old man from Uganda is in the news these days because of his large family. This man named Musa Hasahya Kasera gave birth to not 10 or 20 but 102 children. He has 102 children and 578 grandchildren from his 12 wives, making his family a total of 692 members. Hasahya’s huge family has become a matter of concern as he faces huge challenges to support them.
Hasahya’s story was recently shared on social media, where he was described as ‘the person with the most number of children in the world’. This post is quickly going viral and people from all over the world reacted to his situation. One user jokingly said, “Why do you call it a family…? Why don’t you declare it a district.” While another said, “It’s fun brother, he’s living this life.” However, the reality of Hasahya is different.
The family list will shake you
Ugandan Moses married his first wife in 1972 at the age of 17. Time progressed and he married 12 times, due to which his family grew rapidly. However, supporting such a large family has become a serious challenge for them. The villagers, attracted by his status as a cattle trader and butcher, married their daughters to him. Although polygamy is legal in Uganda under some religious traditions, child marriage was not officially banned in the country until 1995.
For those who enjoy watching travel vlogs, you might be familiar with Kailash Meena, aka The Indo Trekker. Recently, Kailash visited a village in Uganda, where he met Musa Hasaya Kaseera, the man who holds the record for having the most children in the world.

Struggle for sustenance
His two acres of land is no longer sufficient for the needs of his family, due to which he has become unemployed and his financial problems have increased. Because the list of Musa Hasahya’s children was so long, he started forgetting even their names. This is the reason that to get rid of this problem, he prepared a register in which the names of all the children are written. “I can only remember the names of my first and last children, but not the names of my other children,” says Musa.
The family has to remain hungry
Hasahya’s third wife, Zabina, said, “We are barely able to survive. It is difficult to eat and drink. We have to feed the children once or, on good days, twice.” Many children and grandchildren work for their neighbors or spend their days fetching water and firewood from long distances. Yet, for such a large family, food and drinks are limited and the family often faces hunger. However, Hasahya has admitted that all this is the result of his past decisions. He said, “At first it was a joke, but now it is causing problems.”
