The special thing is that the height of this church is so high that even from a distance of about 10 kilometers, the cross on the top of this church is visible. The Chandaiya Memorial Methodist Episcopal Church, located in Jagdalpur city, the headquarters of Bastar division, is the oldest church in the division. Which is known as Red Church. CB Ward Missionary had laid the foundation of this church in the year 1890 AD. Then the then Maharaja Praveer Chandra Bhanjdev of Bastar had donated about one thousand acres of land to the CB Ward. After which hostel, school and church were built in this campus. The Red Church was completely completed in 1933 AD. Ratnesh Bejwin, a member of the Christ Society and chairman of the church property, told that when this church was built. Then the brick was joined with vine, glue, lui and lime and this connection is so strong that even today there is no crack anywhere in the wall of the church.

Although this church is definitely painted every year, no construction has been done in the 19th century church till date. From its walls to its foundation, it is 100 years old. The special thing is that no plaster has been done in the church, nor has any machine been used to build this church. This is the reason that the wall of this church is the center of attraction for the people who reach here. Apart from this, the chandeliers installed here are also 100 years old. Especially on the occasion of Christmas, showing brotherhood, people of every religion and every society reach this church and pray to Lord Jesus and also see the grandeur of this church.

Ratnesh Benjamin told that another special thing about this church is that being the tallest church in Bastar division, the cross on its summit is visible even from 10 kilometers away from the city. Apart from this, the sound of the bell in this church is heard from 5 to 10 kilometers. The bell installed in the church is also made in London. Which is increasing the beauty of this church even after 100 years without any war. He told that every year the church is specially decorated on the occasion of Christmas. Which adds to its magnificence. This time the cottage of Jesus Christ made from Para has become the center of special attraction. Ratnesh Bejwin told that the red church of Bastar division is one of the historical heritage of Bastar.
