Police Custody to Sonali Phogat Murder Accused: The two main accused in the murder case of BJP leader Sonali Phogat have been sent to 10-day police custody. Goa’s Mapusa court has sent accused Sudhir Sangwan and Sukhwinder Singh to 10-day police custody. The police have claimed that Sudhir Sangwan, who was drinking Sonali Phogat, has confessed his crime during interrogation.

The police have so far made four arrests in the case. These include Sudhir Sangwan and Sukhwinder Singh, suspected drug peddlers Dutt Prasad Gaonkar and Curlies restaurant owner Edwin Nunes. The police nabbed the accused drug paddler last night and the owner of Curlies’ restaurant today.

In this case, the owner of Curlies restaurant was arrested

According to the police, during the investigation, synthetic drug was found in the toiletries of Curlies restaurant. The toiletries were used by Sonali Phogat. After this, the owner of the restaurant Edwin Nunes was caught by the police. Police have registered a new FIR in this case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985 (NDPS Act 1985), in which apart from Sudhir Sangwan, Sukhwinder Singh, drug paddler and owner of Curlies restaurant have also been made accused.

Sonali Phogat’s murder on 23 August was said to be of a heart attack but her family had raised suspicion of murder. After this, the post-mortem report revealed injury marks on Sonali Phogat’s body. Sonali’s brother Rinku Dhaka had accused her sister’s PA Sudhir Sangwan and Sukhwinder Singh of murder. Rinku also accused Sonali of raping her. According to Rinku, the accused killed Sonali to grab her property.

Goa Police claims – accused Sangwan confessed to the crime

According to Goa Police, the accused Sudhir Sangwan has confessed to the crime during interrogation and told that he had mixed some substance in Sonali’s drinking water, after which the BJP leader’s health deteriorated and then died. Today a CCTV footage of Sonali Phogat also surfaced, in which she was seen staggering. At present, the police is investigating the matter from every angle.

Meanwhile, Rishabh Beniwal, a close aide of Sonali Phogat, has alleged that accused Sudhir Sangwan used tantrik, whom he used to call at the farm house, to keep Sonali under control. Rishabh has also expressed apprehension that Sonali’s daughter is in danger of life.
